Isharani Baruah of India, a trainee of the Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy, clinched the Women’s Singles title at the BWF Infosys Foundation India International Challenge 2023 tournament that concluded successfully on Sunday, October 29, 2023. Unseeded Isharani defeated Unnati Hooda (9) in a closely fought match 13-21, 21-18, 21-15.
In the other finals played on Sunday, K. Sathish Kumar won the Men’s Singles title defeating Ravi in straight sets 21-14, 21-16, in an all-Indian affair. Sathish Kumar was also the runner-up in the Mixed Doubles event, pairing with Aadya Variyath, when they lost a 3-game thriller to Phatharathorn Nipornram & Nattamon Laisuan of Thailand 21-23, 21-17, 22-20 in the final match of the day.
In the other paired events, the Men’s Doubles event witnessed an all-India finals as Hariharan Amsakarunan & Ruban Kumar Rethinasabapathi defeated Shyam Prasad & Subramanian Sunjith 21-13, 21-14, while the Mixed Doubles title was bagged by Miku Shigeta and Maya Taguchi of Japan who defeated Priya Konjengbam & Shruti Mishra of India 17-21, 21-18, 21-15
